Time to crimp your hair and root out your floral off the shoulder number if you want to groove to these tunes. Funky pop group Alphabeat are set to release their new 90s inspired album ‘The Spell’ this week in Europe, following a successful release in their native Denmark last month. Their previous self titled album was inspired by the 80’s but it seems that they have now moved on a decade.
Think Groove is in the heart meets Rhythm is a Dancer with a modern twist and you’re on the right track with ‘The Spell’. The music is heavily synthesised with a strong pulse. The melodies are catchy and the mix of male and female harmonies works really well. Best tracks include DJ, Q and A, Chess and Hole in My Heart.
If you’re looking for deep and meaningful lyrics to stir your soul, look elsewhere. If it’s fun and fresh dance pop, then you’re in the right place. The quirky Alphabeat have got feel good music sorted. They will also be supporting the even quirkier Lady Gaga this year on the UK leg of her tour. If you still want more, check out their ‘Gaga Alpha Monster Mash’ version of ‘Bad Romance’ on their website. www.thisisalphabeat.com
