Chaos Thaoghaire
Once a month Odessa of Dame Court in Dublin 2 sees a raucous evening of storytelling, game-playing, rule-breaking, one-upmanship, and rivalry. Each event’s storytelling element is curated by a chosen featured speaker, who invitez a number of their best known friends to tell a story. This is a move away from other literary events or readings as the story is generally a true story told in the first person without the aid of a script or notes, making for a friendly and gossipy tale, like a proper natter down the pub rather than a lofty poetry recital.
Along with that the games serve to break down any kind of hierarchal structure between audience members and storytellers as the whole lot dissolves into cut-throat competitiveness for 1st prize and the winning team’s belt of honour! Cheating, bribery tomfoolery and general rule-breaking are all very much encouraged in your endeavour to make it to the top of the chaos pile!
Each event is themed so games and stories are devised to suit the event. The most recent social red letter day was St. Valentine’s Day and as such Chaos Thaoghaire became Sex Chaos Part 1: Doin It. Due to popular demand Sex Chaos wants to make you come twice so Sloppy Seconds will be held this Tuesday February 23rd. Both events are curated by the shocking, fabulous and hilarious Thomas Dunning and he has invited three of his most daring acquaintances along to share their tales along the theme of all things sexual; Jaime Nanci, John Kamys and OMG's own Jade O’ Callaghan will be revealing all. Be gentle with them.
