Film: Iron Man 2

It’s official, Robert Downey Junior can do no wrong. It doesn’t matter what film he is in, doesn’t matter what character he plays, his films will always do exceptionally well because, well, he is the bomb - a state of affairs that Iron Man 2 shows no sign of changing.
At the end of the first movie, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Junior) announced to the world that he was Iron Man. Since then Tony has been a busy boy, eradicating war, cementing world peace and being adored by millions. As the old saying goes, it’s a long way to fall when you’re sitting at the top. Enter Mickey Rourke, a Russian sociopath who has some serious beef with Mr Iron Man and sets about ‘destroying his legacy’.
It’s not just Mickey boy that has it in for our Iron Man. It seems the US Senate are tired of the one man show and want the suit for themselves to replicate and use to become invincible in war. Turns out Mickey boy’s Da just happened to come up with the idea way back when, and Mickey boy is a dab hand at making the aul suit – but he hates Iron Man, you see where this is going?
Now I would love to go into the logistics of how the little shiny thing in Iron Man’s chest stops working effectively but unfortunately I didn’t pay attention in chemistry. Let’s just say the little shiny thing in Iron Man’s chest stops working effectively and Iron Man needs to find a replacement quick……as if he hasn’t got enough on his plate. That’s why Gwyneth Paltrow aka Miss Pepper Potts and Scarlet Johannsen aka Natalie Rushman are there to aid him in his struggles. At least I think that’s what Scarlet’s character was there for, I was more mesmerised by her arse and wondering what exercise regime she takes every day than what she was saying.
The on screen chemistry and banter between Robert Downey Junior and, well, everyone (especially Miss Pepper Potts) is excellent and is the main selling point of the whole movie. Iron Man 2 has all the elements of a massive blockbuster but with the added humour and wit of an excellent script. Your kids will love it, your granny will love it and your partner will ask you to remove the Robert Downey Junior poster from the ceiling. Thank god he missed the one in the bathroom….
